Liverpool in an average slump
After such a good start to the season Liverpool are seemingly falling away. Fans of the Reds had reason to be optimistic after seeing their side record seven points in their opening three games. Furthermore, their team was extremely impressive in the goalless draw to Arsenal at the Emirates, however, the last two games have epitomized Liverpool in their current state – inconsistent and bang average. For all those who considered their 3-0 loss to West Ham a mere blip , the performance against a Man United side, not exceptional by any means, just indicated how far behind the elite Brendan Roger’s men really are. The defenders are too error-prone and their new signings, though impressive are struggling to gel. The likes of James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings were all peripheral figures and it is a point of why Liverpool cannot realistically challenge the top four this season.
