After the criticism drawn from Arsenal’s lack of signings it was important the Gunners responded with a win against Stoke. Arsene Wenger’s men dominated from the start and were it not for Jack Butland, it could have been five or six rather than just the two they scored. Olivier Giroud quietened some critics with his well-taken goal and the twinkle-toed Santi Carzola was a delight to watch all game. With a visit to Stamford Bridge around the corner, Wenger and his men will be grimacing at their neighbours’ current malaise and could likely inflict more damage to Chelsea’s title credentials.
