Central Coast Mariners began their season with a comfortable 3-1 home victory over Perth Glory.
Rory Donavon opened the scoring for the hosts, following a goalmouth scrabble on nine minutes.
However, it only took the away team 14 minutes to get back on level terms with Richard Garcia applying the finishing touch to a move that looked to be offside.
The visitors’ hap-hazard defending saw them conceded two second half penalties in eight minutes of play.
Mariners attacker Fabio Ferreira duly converted from the spot as they held on, despite a late consolation from Gyoergy Sandor in the 92nd minute.
It was a great afternoon for Central Coast and here’s the best of the reaction from Twitter:
3-1 down to one of the wooden spoon candidates isn’t the ideal start to the season. #CCMvPER

Lacking a hard defensive mid like Rostyn. Went missing for too long. Cup run though ? #CCMvPER — Muller (@MullerAUS) October 10, 2015

You’re allowed a bad day at the office but this Glory side looks like I feel on a Sunday morning, slow and lethargic #CCMvPER
