Antonio Conte selects bad matches to watch

Conte was spotted at the Luigi Ferraris, no doubt hoping to see some of his national team players in Milan outfits impress him as they had done in recent weeks. Mario Balotelli, Mattia De Sciglio, Giacomo Bonaventura and Andrea Bertolacci were all on the national coach’s radar.

However the former Juventus boss might have wished he had not made the trip to GenoaT the game was a poor one, from the perspective of both teams and for spectator viewing. A drab 1-0 scoreline in Genoa’s favour made for a yawn-fest, even if it was a glitteringly attended occasion.

Italians struggling at Bologna

Bologna is a club which, historically, has found itself in possession of Italian national team players who are struggling for form and in need of seeking refuge. Alberto Gilardino and Alessandro Diamanti are just two examples of players in past seasons.

Mattia Destro and Emanuele Giaccherini are both on the roster for the current season and it has not started well for either. Destro has not been able to keep a regular spot in the first team, a situation not helped by the fact that he hasn’t scored yet. Giaccherini, most unfortunately, played his first match for the team and only lasted thirty minutes after sustaining a thigh injury.
