24. Mickael Tavares (Sydney FC)
After signing on an injury-replacement contract last season midway through last season, Mickael Tavares quickly established himself in a competitive Sydney FC midfield ahead of the homegrown Terry Antonis and went on to become one of Sydney’s most integral cogs.
The Senegalese midfielder formed a formidable partnership with Milos Dimitrejivic, his robust strength complementing the Serbian’s neat passing ability. Raised in France, the 32-year-old has a long history of European experience including spells at clubs such as Hamburger SV and Fulham.
The obvious linchpin in Sydney FC’s midfield, Tavares looks set to continue at the heart of Sydney’s side. Winning an immense 83% of his headed duels and completing 89% of all his passes, Tavares must have another good season if Sydney are to remain stable.
