Outside90 goes through the A-League’s best and brightest ahead of the new season. Who will finish number one?

30. Fabio Ferreira (Central Coast Mariners)

Kicking off our countdown at number 30 is former-Red Fabio Ferreira. Now at the Central Coast Mariners, the tricky winger possesses what is an incredible footballing CV. The Sporting Club de Portugal youth product signed for Chelsea in 2006 before being loaned out to a range of English league sides. The 26-year-old came to Australia to play with National Premier League club, Dulwich Hill and grasped his opportunity to impress at an Adelaide United trial.

After joining midway through last season, Ferreira was quick to make an impact at his new club. The Portuguese winger usurped his total goal tally at Adelaide, grabbing a brace in his second match for the Gosford based-club. Playing from the right it is Ferreira’s acceleration and fleet-footedness makes him a nightmare to defend against.

A confidence-based player, Ferreira may flourish at the Mariners as the main-man. In a side screaming out for an outstanding performer, Ferreira’s penetrative ability could quickly see him become the focal point. Oh and keep an eye out for his signature bow and arrow celebration.
