Garcia learns his lessons
Roma were going well in the early part of last season. Their whole campaign, however, went downhill when they came up against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Much like the game against Barcelona this season, the Munich match was built up as a defining test for Roma.
They failed.
Before the game against the Germans, Garcia said his side would take on Munich at home and only focus on playing their own game. It backfired. Roma lost 7-1 and never really recovered.
This time, Garcia got his tactics spot on. He let Barca have 70% possession but set up his team perfectly and Roma were resolute at the back. On the counter, they looked a threat, especially with the pace of Mohammed Salah. If Garcia can continue to impress from the sidelines, Roma could cause some more upsets in Europe this season.
