Bayer Leverkusen(4-2-2-2)
Bernd Leno – 6: Was not troubled throughout the duration of the match and only needed to terminate one dangerous attempt early on in proceedings. Distribution was poor.
Giulio Donati – 4.5: Disappointing outing for the right-back. Apart from his two crosses, he failed to impose himself in the match.
Jonathan Tah – 6: Was very active and defended well, stepping-up on every occasion he was needed.
Kyriakos Papadopoulos – 5.5: Not his best performance by any means, but he did not make any huge mistakes and shut down a few attacks.
Sebastian Boenisch – 7.5: One of the most successful tacklers in this match, was also continuously involved with the attack.
Omer Toprak – 5.5: An intriguing position change for Toprak this match as the predominate centre-back found himself in defensive-midfield. His shot at goal was arguably the visitor’s best chance, but it was not a standout performance.
Christoph Kramer – 7.5: Possibly the man of the match, was influential in various aspects of the game. He comfortably covered the most distance (11.54km) and completed the most passes (46) in a great display over a rather dull match.
Karim Bellarabi – 6.5: Passing certainly was not up to scratch, but was lively as usual though. Covered a lot of ground, orchestrated the most crosses (three), and sparked some attacks.
Julian Brandt – 4.5: Very quiet, failed to get involved with the majority of the play.
Stefan Kiessling – 5.5: Won the most tackles (26) and gave it his all, however, he did not register a single shot on goal.
Javier Hernandez – 7: Attempted the joint most shots (three) and consistently made runs. While there were times when he went missing, he concluded the match as one of the best players on display.
