Outside90’s Joshua Scarcella breaks down the biggest talking points to come out of the weekend’s Serie A action.

Antonio Mirante the hero as Bologna win it late

The Rossoblu went into the match against Genoa with their tails up after comprehensively beating a much in form Napoli last weekend, although it was the home side who came out of the blocks on top. Goran Pandev missed two shots after taking a rare starting opportunity with both hands, yet he would not have expected the heroics of Antonio Mirante.

Making four impressive saves in the first-half, the goalkeeper kept Bologna in the match as Luca Rossettini left it late to take all three points. The ex-Parma pair of Mirante and Roberto Donadoni have steered Bologna to some recent good form, which they will hope to continue in order to keep their position in Serie A.

Three times four for Frosinone

The Canarini’s loss to Palermo in Sicily became the third time this season the newly promoted team has conceded four goals in a match.

An early spell of first-half goals had the home team 2-1 up going into the break and the points still hanging in the balance. This was quashed soon after the break though, when Aleksandar Trajkovski put the match beyond the reach of the away side, to which Alberto Gilardino added a fourth.

It was the Rosaneri’s first win in four matches.

Udinese a shambles in defense

A truly unbelievable defensive display from the home side handed the Nerazzuri a comfortable win that saw them increase their hold on top position.

Two inexcusable defensive errors from the home side had Inter Milan up at the break, only for Udinese to concede yet another goal from a lapse in concentration late in the second-half for the match to be put beyond doubt.

It was a confidence boosting result for both Mauro Icardi and Stefan Jovetic, who have struggled for form in recent weeks and both got themselves on the scoresheet.
