Roma collect a reward for a poor approach

It was a case of Roma steadying the ship and trying to get any result they could in their match against Napoli, as the home side’s fans would have left the stadium wondering how they were not able to take all three points.

The Giallorossi did not manage a shot on target for the entire match, while Napoli tried four times unsuccessfully to pass Wojciech Szczesny in the 0-0 draw.

It is the first time in a month and a half Napoli have been kept scoreless. With tough fixtures against Atalanta and Genoa respectively, the two sides need three points to keep in touch with a fast-finishing Juventus.

Old foe haunts Fiorentina

Controversy kicked-off the second match of the round between Juventus and Fiorentina, where after just two minutes Giorgio Chiellini gave away a penalty for a foul on Federico Bernardeschi.

However, it was to be the unlikely target of a cross, Juan Cuadrado, who looped a header over Ciprian Tatarusanu to level the sides just three minutes later, coming back to haunt the team he was on loan to just last season.

Amazingly for the top four Fiorentina did not manage a shot on target for the match, joining Roma to be the only two sides to do so for the round.

Goalkeeping howler costs Lazio

After Federico Marchetti was substituted with just 12 minutes to go due to injury, onc could be forgiven for having thought Alessandro Matri’s goal was enough to give the home side their first win in seven matches.

The substitute, Ertrit Berisha, seemed to have other ideas though, handing Sampdoria a free-kick in the last minute of added time after coming out of his box to place a tackle on Luis Muriel who was covered by Santiago Gentiletti. Ervin Zukanovic converted the spot kick to share the points on the night.

Postponement

Matchday 16 saw the first match of the 2015-16 season being postponed due to bad weather conditions in Sassuolo.

Extremely heavy fog swamped the Mapei stadium which left officials no choice but to call off the match.
