Hamburger SV (4-2-3-1)

Rene Adler – 7: Kept a clean sheet and only faced two real threatening shots which he dealt with well. Distribution was good enough, completing 10 passes while misplacing just four.

Dennis Diekmeier – 7: Produced the third most amount of sprints in the match with 29, only Javier Hernandez and Karim Bellarabi enjoyed more. The full-back won 11 tackles, but was off-the-mark with a third of his passes.

Johan Djourou – 5.5: Recorded eight successful tackles and looked solid in his role for a big part of the match, but let the opposition get past a few times. Completed the second most amount of passes for his side (25).

Emir Spahic – 6: A fairly strong outing from the centre-half doing his best to keep his former teammates at bay. Completed the most passes for his team (28), and won 12 tackles

Matthias Ostrzolek – 4.5: The left-back finished with a 50% passing accuracy, and won a measly five tackles.

Albin Ekdal – 5: One goal attempt and won the most tackles for his side (19). His one downfall was inaccurate passing.

Lewis Holtby – 5: Hamburger’s key midfielder was on the edge of more misguided passes than successful ones. He defended well when required, winning many tackles, but failed to really put his mark on the game.

Nicolai Muller – 5.5: Completed one cross in a match deprived of crosses. Created a couple of chances, but apart from that he failed to influence the match majorly.

Aaron Hunt – 7.5: The main man in attack for the home side attempted three shots on goal, the joint most in the match. Won 16 tackles and was without doubt one of Hamburger’s better players.

Ivo Ilicevic – 6: Covered 10.31km during the 90. It was a convincing all round performance from the attacking-midfielder, with the exception of some of his wayward passes.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga – 4: Was not too involved in the match, did not hold up the ball and his lay-off service to teammates was poor.

Substitutes

Michael Gregoritsch – 5: Looked energetic when coming on and even delivered a cross, yet it was not enough to effect the game.

Sven Schipplock – 3.5: He was not lively when entering the field and provided nothing.

Marcelo Diaz – N/A: Only featured for seven minutes.
