Hamburger SV heaped further frustration on Bayer Leverkusen in a 0-0 draw at the Imtech Arena overnight.
Leverkusen emerged as the better side for most of the match, but the hosts turned up with an impressive performance and took advantage of Lars Bender’s absence.
The result means Roger Schmidt’s men are still lingering outside the top four in eighth position. Meanwhile, Hamburger will be delighted with a point against a potent opposition, now moving six points clear of the dreaded relegation positions they have been so familiar with in previous seasons.
From a different point of view an away point is positive for Leverkusen, it is, however, hindered by the fact that their three biggest top four rivals, Borussia Dortmund, Vfl Wolfsburg and Schalke 04 all secured victories. Leverkusen sit just one point behind the fourth placed Wolfsburg.
