A second half brace has inspired Everton to a come-from-behind Victory against West Brom at the Hawthorns on Monday evening.

The home side found itself 2-0 up shortly after the interval through Craig Dawson’s header, but the Lukaku-led Everton would soon overturn the deficit to register a 3-2 win.

The Belgian scored twice and nabbed one assist in a memorable 45-minute spell against his former club.

Saido Berahino opened the scoring on 41 minutes after James Morrison slipped him in with a clever through ball from central midfield, doing just enough to beat an onrushing Tim Howard and, in the process, punishing an earlier miss from Ross Barkley.

A delightful ball from Gerard Deulofeu on the right bypassed the defence and was met by Barkley, but Everton’s number 20 fluffed his shot from no more than six yards.

Albion had the opportunity to double their money on 53 minutes as Darren Fletcher butchered a free header from close range. It was not to matter, however, as Dawson converted from the ensuing corner seconds later in the midst of some slack marking.

Yet a frantic few minutes had not fully subsided. A minute later, Deulofeu whipped in a perfectly weighted cross that looked to have been chested in by Lukaku.

Everton assumed the driver’s seat and continued to attack. That pressure was rewarded in the 75th minute when Lukaku threaded a pass to substitute Arouna Kone who coolly beat Boaz Myhill. Questions will be asked as to whether or not the Ivorian was offside.

The visitors would soon take the lead as Lukaku hit the scoreboard again. The Belgian knocked down another Deulofeu ball after the Baggies failed to clear, slotting past Myhill. The ball appeared to hit Lukaku’s hand, but the goal stood.

Three points takes Everton to fifth on the table ahead of next Sunday’s Merseyside Derby while West Brom sit in 15th with a trip to Crystal Palace looming.
