A-League heavyweight Melbourne Victory have announced they have broken the A-League’s all-time membership record, set just last season by Victory.

The three-time and current A-League champions have signed up 24,232 members ahead of the new season, eclipsing the previous record set by the club.

Chairman Anthony Di Pietro thanked members for their contribution.

“On behalf of everyone associated with the club, I would like to thank each and every member for being Victory In Every Way this season,” Di Pietro said.

“We are incredibly proud and appreciative of the extraordinary contribution our members make to our club.

“The atmosphere and passion our members generate at our games is second to none and an inspiration to all of us.

“Despite achieving a new club record, we have not reached our membership target for this season, so I encourage all Melbourne Victory fans who are not members to join us for what promises to be our most exciting season yet.”

The news is just another boost to Victory, who earlier today announced the signing of Olyroo and ex-Swansea City defender Giancarlo Gallifuoco.

Victory will tonight discover their FFA Cup semi-final opponents before opening their A-League title defence on 9 October in a highly anticipated clash against fierce rivals Adelaide United at Adelaide Oval.
