A fine spectacle for the A-League
This was a splendid match by two decent sides that looked to play attacking football first and save the trepidation for another time. Experienced coaches Ernie Merrick and John Aloisi must be praised for coercing this kind of style out of their squads. This game had everything, five goals, quality strikes, sumptuous passing moves, fine saves, wicked wide play and dogged defending. The referee also deserves a mention for letting the game flow without handing out unnecessary cards.
