The Phoenix front three stand-out

The high-press and high-pace game of the Phoenix front three was extremely pleasing on the eye, and the way Sarpong, Krishna and McGlinchey seem to be gelling is worrying for any opposition defenders. They hunted defenders in packs and constantly rotated their frontline, making them a constant menace for the Brisbane defence in this match. Two of the starters scored goals, and substitute Powell came on for the improving assist maker Sarpong to record the winner.

Conceding first will hurt down the line

Three games, three goals conceded first. This is a statistic that the Phoenix need to get rid of as soon as possible. Although their attack continues to shine, their defensive fragility is an issue and without Andrew Durante they always look susceptible, no matter how many last-ditch challenges Ben Sigmund provides.
