Fiorentina miss a chance to go top

A bunch of early opportunities for La Viola were not capitalised on and it will leave them wondering what could have been as a win would have guaranteed a share of top spot.

Both sides got close to a second goal and potential winner. Josip Ilicic squandered a one-on-one opportunity against Andrea Consigli early in the first half while the scorer of Sassuolo’s first goal, Sergio Floccari, took one and two too many touches right in front of the goal mouth.

Both teams have winnable matches ahead with Fiorentina to take on Udinese, while Sassuolo match up against Sampdoria.

Gonzalo Maradona?

It was touted as the biggest match of the season so far when Napoli took on Inter Milan in a top two clash, and it did not disappoint.

Gonzalo Higuain kicked off the party in just the second minute in a match that had everything from red cards to poor defending, brilliant saves to late shots hitting the woodwork and boy did the home fans celebrate when they realised they sat on top of the Serie A table for the first time since 1990. The last time it occurred, a certain Diego Maradona was running around in a sky blue jersey.
