Chievo top defensive charts, yet struggle for wins

Chievo now find themselves in 15th position on the table after a 3-2 loss at home against a spirited Udinese. Once again, Antonio Di Natale made an ever-present impact on the match, providing an assist for the winner after being on the pitch for just seven minutes.

Pressure mounts on the Gialloblu defence where Bostjan Cesar, Alessandro Gamberini, Lucas Castro and Nicolas Frey are placed in the top 10 in the league for the number of clearances, dribbles out of defence and blocks per match. Midfield resistance is a big problem for the club and it will need to solve this if it is to stay in the top flight.

Luca Toni’s return fails to get Verona three points

The 2014-15 joint Capocannoniere winner returned to the starting lineup for Verona and it could not have come at a better time as they faced Frosinone. Unfortunately for Toni, he did not count on an early red card and Frosinone scoring three goals within the first 48 minutes. A late comeback from Verona was not enough to get a much needed win, as the home side notched up its fourth win of the season and moved out of the relegation zone for the first time this season.
