Outside90’s Joshua Scarcella breaks down the biggest talking points to come out of the weekend’s Serie A action.

Inter return to winning ways

The Nerazzuri posted their first win in four matches away to Bologna after previously leading the race to the Scudetto. Roberto Mancini’s men won their first six games of the season, before stumbling to a defeat and three consecutive draws.

The away side held the better of possession and chances throughout the match, with Angelo Da Costa forced to make four saves. Felipe Melo did his best to hider Inter’s chances of a win by picking up two yellow cards in quick succession during the second-half, however, a poor attempted clearance by Alex Ferrari saw Adem Ljajic get in behind the defence and square-up the winner for Mauro Icardi.

Alejandro Gomez vital to Atalanta success

There was a massive upset at the Stadio Atleti as a surging Atalanta side got the better of Lazio, who have been in some good form of their own.

Gomez has played an integral part in the Nerazzuri’s early season success, not only scoring goals but also providing assists for his partner in crime, Mauricio Pinilla. Gomez has three goals and two assists for the season so far, coupled with two man of the match performances and only missing minimal time of the ten matches so far.

If Atalanta are to continue their good form, the Argentine will need to exert his influence for the rest of the season.
