Contrasting signings for Inter Milan

The influx of new signings for the Nerazzurri has been well documented. However, matchday four has shown us both the best and the worst of these new arrivals.

On one hand, Geoffrey Kondogbia was outstanding for Inter Milan in midfield. Sometimes he played as the calming influence by holding possession of the ball and acting as a playmaker. On others, he penetrated the Chievo defense and created chances of his own, one of them a wonderful chip over the defense to provide Mauro Icardi for Inter Milan’s only goal.

On the other hand, Felipe Melo does not seem to suit Mancini’s system of play. Nor does he suit the defensive midfielder role. Speed and creativity are part of Felipe Melo’s skill set and would be much better suited playing further up the midfield.

No net for Genoa

Genoa became the first team of the 2015/16 season not able to record a shot on target for the entire match. Although Il Grifone had opportunities on occasion to pull the trigger, a fantastic defensive display from the Juventus back four meant Gianluigi Buffon was not troubled once and had little to keep himself busy.

Even the introduction of Goran Pandev in the second half, who has an impressive goal scoring record against the Bianconeri, could not inspire the home side.
