Sporting keep their double dream alive, as Galaxy continue to falter

A second-half Dom Dwyer goal, expertly created by a surging run and an exquisite pass by Benny Feilhaber, proved enough to ensure Sporting Kansas City claim their fifth consecutive posts season appearance with a 2-1 victory over the faltering LA Galaxy.

Peter Vermes’ side, who have already ensured a degree of success to the season with their Open Cup earlier this season, were perhaps fortunate overall to win, their opening goal coming courtesy of an offside Kevin Ellis strike.

However, the LA Galaxy, who’s dismal recent run of one win in their last seven games, highlights a dramatic decline of a side tipped by many to make it as the ‘first to six’ with yet another MLS Cup triumph this campaign.

Worryingly for Bruce Arena, the Galaxy’s decline has coincided with (largely) their full availability of stars in the starting XI…or maybe that should read in spite, or even because of them!
