Fired up Timbers finish strongly
After a standout performance away from home last week against the LA Galaxy, the Portland Timbers once again put on a show of their impressive firepower, blowing away the hapless Colorado Rapids 4-1 on route to securing their playoff classification in style.
Darlington Nagbe (twice) Fanendo Adi and Jorge Villafana were all on the mark, while impressive showings from Lucas Melano and Rodney Wallace make Caleb Porter’s Timbers side one of the league’s most difficult sides to contain, such is the variety of their attacking options.
The Timbers, who finished the season strongly, will perhaps be seen as the poster child of a team’s form counting more than their overall strength, going in to the knockout competition that is the MLS Cup.
