Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera believes he and his teammates will be better prepared for the next instalment of the Manchester Derby in the EFL Cup.

United were made to work hard for their place in the next round overcoming a spirited Northampton 3-1, with Herrera grabbing himself a goal along with an assist for Marcus Rashford’s sealing goal.

City meanwhile accounted for Swansea City 2-1 thanks to goals from Manu Garcia and Gael Clichy before Gylfi Sigurdsson grabbed a late consolation.

Following the draw for the next round Spaniard Herrera said he was excited by the match-up with their city rivals.

“I think it’s good for us,” Herrera told MUTV.

“We can show again what you want to do.

“I told you two weeks ago, we were disappointed [with the 2-1 loss] because it was in front of our fans against the City opponent.

“And now we have another chance to play against them, I’m sure it will be different.”

The fixture will see the Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola’s team’s clash for the second time this season, with the fixture set to be played in the week beginning October 24.
