GK – Michu1 (La Masia CF)

We start off in goals as Michu, the La Masia CF shot-stopper, enjoyed a productive opening week to the AVPL season with his side sitting second on the table. Having just recently signed for the title favourites, Michu made an impressive start, making several remarkable saves as his side destroyed a poor Goaldiggers PC side over two legs.

CB – Heis (HereForBeer FC)

A great week for newcomers HereForBeer FC, who top the table after taking maximum points in both fixtures and didn’t conceded a goal. Part of this is due to the form of Heis, who was instrumental in defence. He may not have made a tackle, but Heis was often the man repelling attacks in the air, while also making some crucial interceptions.

CB – Hainesy (HereForBeer FC)

The other side of the formidable HereForBeer FC defence, Hainesy was rock solid in the opening week of the season. Forming a prolific partnership with Heis, the pair were instrumental in keeping consecutive clean sheets on opening night. Hainesy was often the one bustling through packs as the defender made a huge eight tackles.

CB – deadlocust (La Masia CF)

Is he the deadliest locust or a dead locust? Either way, Locust enjoyed a good opening night with La Masia CF as the defender made three tackles and kept a clean sheet against Goaldiggers PC. Normally a striker, Locust surprised many by playing defence but the decision paid off.

POPULAR AUSFIFA ARTICLES

Heavily regarded as one of the best in the AVPL, Spud opened the season in fine fashion with HereForBeer FC, scoring twice and assisting once from midfield as his side leads all comers at the top of the table. Albeit against weak opposition in NO TENSION FC, Spud found it way too easy to take control of midfield.

CM – Harry10 (La Fabrica CF)

The first player outside of La Masia CF and HereForBeer FC to be named in the Team of the Week, Harry cements himself in the heart of midfield following a brilliant opening day. The midfielder assisted three and also got himself on the scoresheet as his side got four points against Spinach CF.

CM – Jayninho7 (La Masia CF)

Back to the usual suspects from La Masia CF, with midfielder Jay was at the heart of all things good for the side who currently sit second on the table. Jay assisted four of La Masia’s eight goals as the star enjoyed a prolific opening day. It would be a great benefit to his side if he could continue this fine form for the remainder of the season.

RM – Goose (RUTHLESS CF)

Another accomplished striker who made the move into midfield, Goose was another who makes the Team of the Week without being a part of La Masia or HereForBeer. In RUTHLESS CF’s two wins over Melbourne-born, Goose contributed three assists to be among the best for the victors.

LF – Emery (HereForBeer FC)

Deemed the best player in the AVPL, Emery was among the best performers from week one as the HereForBeer striker catapulted his side to the top of the table. With four goals and an assist against a lacklustre NO TENSION FC side, Emery took advantage of extra space up top to cement his place at second on the Golden Boot leaderboard.

RF – NeymarSnr (La Masia CF)

Much like his counterpart NeymarJnr at Barcelona, La Masia CF’s NeymarSnr mixed finishing with teamwork as he played a major role in his sides good fortunes in week one. With two goals and two assists, Neymar was at his very best with La Masia CF running riot against Goaldiggers PC.

ST – xLothiannn (La Masia CF)

Who else would you rather have leading the line than this man? The La Masia CF striker was above and beyond in week one of the AVPL, helping his side claim second on the table. There has been a lot of scrutiny over Lothiannn, with many saying that he can’t transfer his Rivals form into the AVPL. He will be hoping to sustain this form to prove his doubters wrong.

Performance of the Week – xLothiannn (La Masia CF, Round 1)

One of the most talked about strikers heading into the AVPL season, Lothiannn had been tipped for greatness in the past but hadn’t transferred his form onto the big stage yet, casting doubt over his ability. However, he quickly put those opinions to bed as he kicked off the season in style, scoring a mammoth six goals in round one, three in each tie, as his side romped to an aggregated 9-2 victory over Goaldiggers PC.
