Western Sydney fought hard to record a 1-0 away win against the Newcastle Jets earlier this afternoon.
Jaushua Sotirio’s fine finish just before the 20 minute mark proved to be the separating factor, as the Wanderers now trail league leaders Brisbane only on goal difference.
The Jets pressed forward and controlled the momentum of the game for much of the second-half, yet close chances that fell to Leonardo, Nigel Boogaard and even goalkeeper Mark Birighitti were well dealt with by Liam Ruddy or just off-target.
Although the Wanderers came away with the points, fans were less than pleased with an uninspiring late effort. Meanwhile, Newcastle’s finals hopes are fast wearing away in eighth place.

We don't need to worry about the Wanderers winning anything if they play like that #NEWvWSW

Birraz kept us in the game, in the end just didn't have the quality to pinch a draw against a WSW content with a 1-0 lead #NEWvWSW

No doubt the Jets have improved in the second half of the season. Plenty to be positive about moving forward. #NEWvWSW @NewcastleJetsFC
