Barca’s defence is shambolic
Gerard Pique’s return to league action should have sured up a shaky looking Barca defence but, if anything, it did the exact opposite. Pique was all over the place in a defence that looked like it was going to concede every time the blue shirts of Celta streamed forwards in attack. All four of Celta’s goals came from players not being marked and runners not being tracked as the home side punished a truly shambolic defensive effort.
Barca’s defence has now conceded four goals in a match on three occasions, after the European Super Cup clash with Sevilla and the Spanish Super Cup first leg against Athletic Bilbao. Incidentally, stand-in goalkeeper ter Stegen has been between the posts for all three.
