Barca’s past came back to haunt them
Nolito managed two appearances for Barcelona before being allowed to move on to Benfica in 2011. Since returning to Spain with Celta the forward has been in inspired form, scoring 32 goals in 76 league appearances, leading to rumours going into this clash that Barca wanted to re-sign him.
The scene was set for Nolito to make his former employers realise what they were missing out on, and he did not disappoint. The Spanish forward, who must be edging closer to a first national team call-up, opened the scoring with a wonderful finish after 26 minutes, collecting the ball in space inside the box and hitting a beautiful curling effort into the top corner. He may well have added a few million to his price tag with this performance.
