There are a number of star talents in the A-League. Whether they have big futures waiting, like Brisbane’s Brandon Borrello and Devante Clut, or are currently in the spotlight for Australia, such as Melbourne City star Aaron Mooy.
These are the types of players that will be the difference from winning and losing for their respective sides in each game throughout the season. Outside 90’s Jeremy Hawkins looks at five of the A-League’s players to look out for in 2015-16.
Craig Goodwin (Adelaide United)
The hometown hero for Adelaide will again be crucial to their challenge for the title this season. Craig Goodwin was a star in Adelaide’s last postseason run, scoring a fantastic free-kick against Brisbane in the 2014-15 elimination final. The winger was perhaps overshadowed throughout the campaign by Spanish star Isaías and Argentine Marcelo Carrusca, but he still provided plenty flair to the Adelaide attack from the left-side of midfield.
A versatile player who is still only 23-years-old, Goodwin will be looking to become a more complete winger this season. In his first time around the block with Adelaide, he scored six goals and only provided two assists. If The Reds want to go one step further then last season, Goodwin will have to add more output to his game. This year will be a big one for Goodwin and may even result in an International call up for the Socceroos.
