Aaron Mooy
The 25-year-old midfielder will be crucial to City’s push for a first piece of silverware. Mooy will most likely play in the deep-lying playmaker position as a part of a five man midfield in a 4-2-3-1 formation and this season will be his season to shine. He has shown glimpses of this potential in his years at Western Sydney and also during the previous campaign with City, but this year has Mooy’s name written all over it. City have recruited well in the offseason and as they will be looking knock their neighbours off the top perch, Mooy will be central to their success.
Mooy is already involved in the national team setup, appearing eight times and scoring four goals, including his stunner against Bangladesh in September. If Mooy is able to keep up his terrific form that we saw against Bangladesh and in a number of City’s FFA Cup matches, he and City may prove to be unstoppable this season.
The A-League is upon us again and 2015-16 looks has all the makings of the best season yet. The competition is going from strength-to-strength, with more emerging talents proving themselves in the league and many of the players on this list will most likely feature in the qualification to Russia 2018. Goodwin, Clut, Ansell, Borrello and Mooy are names that will be mentioned week-in week-out this season and will light up the league.
