Chelsea seems on the verge of a club implosion following the circus which was the 2-1 defeat to a high-flying West Ham last night.

The reigning Premier League champions were thrown into chaos at Upton Park, with Nemanja Matic earning a foolish red card, while Jose Mourinho and a member of his staff were sent into the stands at halftime.

Slaven Bilic’s men started with solid intentions and were able to put the visitors on the back-foot whenever Dimitri Payet was in possession of the ball out-wide. It only took until the 17th minute for Mauro Zarate to fire the Hammers in front, sending a rebounded corner back into Asmir Begovic’s net with a powerful half-volley.

The Blues were still dangerous when they had possession around the 18-yard box and a goal line scramble which had only the slightest millimetres of the ball not crossing the line was frustrating, but an arguable offside call to deny Cesc Fabregas a goal sent to team into a frenzy, Matic sent-off almost immediately after on the stroke of halftime, at which point Mourinho’s temper also went out of control. Although a 10-man outfit played the rest of the match with valiant effort and even drew back level for a period through Gary Cahill, West Ham had too much of the momentum on their side and a towering header from Andy Carroll late in the proceedings clinched a famous win.
