Perth Glory have claimed sixth spot on the A-League table with a 2-0 win over a 10 man Newcastle Jets at nib Stadium to finish off round 22.

The match began evenly with both sides getting forward, creating a few half chances. History was not on the Jets side with the club not winning a game in Perth since November 2005 and not picking up even a point since November 2008.

Despite the end to end nature of majority of the first half the Glory took the lead in the 37th minute. Aryn Williams burst into the box towards the byline and crossed it back for Andy Keogh – who was unmarked – to head home.

Perth began the second half brilliantly, doubling their advantage in the opening minute. Diego Castro beat a few Newcastle defenders and drew goalkeeper Mark Birighitti off his line. The Spaniard intelligently passed it back to Gyorgy Sandor who had an open net to aim at and he made no mistake.

Things got better for the Glory who gained the numerical advantage after Daniel Mullen recieved his second yellow card just before the hour mark but the 2-0 scoreline remained.

Here’s the best reaction from Twitter.
