Leicester City has consolidated their place within the Premier League’s top five with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at the King Power Stadium.

The winning goal came in the second-half after a sloppy giveaway from Brede Hangeland saw the ball fall at the feet of Riyad Mahrez, who played the in-form Jamie Vardy through on goal. The striker controlled and moved around goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, calmly slotting the ball into the back of the net.

In scoring the goal Vardy has joined the likes of Alan Shearer, Ian Wright, Mark Stein and Daniel Sturridge, who all found the net in seven consecutive Premier League games.

Both sides had a decent number of opportunities, however, when in the final third they found the finishing less than necessary to break the deadlock before the halftime interval.

Palace was pushing hard to try and find the equaliser, but some poor composure and the last ditch defending from Leicester meant that the hosts were able to secure the win and their first clean sheet of the season.
