Juventus’ improvement

Juventus had a surprisingly poor start to the season, but now seem to have gotten back on track. After winning only one of their opening six league games, Massimiliano Allegri’s side have since lost just once in the next seven league outings. They also sit atop the Champions League group, having yet to lose a game.

Their final group encounter sees them facing up against Sevilla, with a point enough for them to seal pole position. They have also been very strong defensively, conceding just two goals in five games, a good feat considering they were placed in one of the competitions toughest groups. The Turin club will want to continue their recent form as they face tough trips to Palermo and Lazio, followed by a difficult home games against high-flying Fiorentina.

City’s injury problem’s continue

If defensive woes were not enough, City have also been facing a major injury crisis in the recent weeks. Seven first team players are currently on the sidelines, with goalkeeper Hart being the latest addition. Sergio Aguero has already returned to the starting lineup, but is yet to complete 90 minutes since his return. With Bony out injured as well, the Sky Blues have had to rely on youngster Kalechi Iheanacho and Raheem Sterling to fill in the striker’s position. Kompany, Mangala, Pablo Zabaleta, Samir Nasri and David Silva are the others injured, although most of them are likely to get back to fitness in the coming weeks, with Nasri being the only long-term casualty.

City must win their final encounter against Borussia Monchengladbach and hope Juventus lose in order for them to finish top of the group.
