AS Roma have made a late bid to secure the services of the English international on a one-year loan deal from the grasps of Bournemouth according to The Mirror.

Wilshere, who has struggled with injuries and form over the past few seasons is looking for a loan move abroad to reinvigorate his career away from the Emirates. Bournemouth and Crystal Palace were leading the charge for Wilshere, however, after Roma’s late move for Wilshere, a transfer to the Italian capital may be on the cards.

The chance of playing Champions League football this season would make a swap to the Giallorossi more attractive for the 2010/11 PFA Young Player of the Year.

Cherries manager Eddie Howe still believes he can persuade the 24-year-old midfielder to head down to the South Coast.

Wilshere only featured in a handful of games last season and has been at Arsenal his entire footballing career, aside from a brief loan spell to Bolton Wanderers in 2010.
