Outside90’s Yannick Forde discusses matchday 14’s big talking points.

Bournemouth resilient in 3-3 draw against Everton

After going 2-0 down to Everton after just 36 minutes, Bournemouth fans would have feared the worst. However, 35 minutes init the second half, the match kicked into life. With just 10 minutes to go, Eddie Howe’s team was seemingly down and out, yet it responded with a goal to halve the deficit before Junior Stanislas equalised seven minutes later. Deep into injury time, Ross Barkley must have thought he had scored the winner before Stanislas responded in the eighth minute of additional time to steal a point. This draw will probably feel like a win for Howe and his men.

Crystal Palace thump lackluster Newcastle United

Crystal Palace inflicted yet another beating on a hapless Newcastle United team in stylish fashion. The final score of 5-1 does not reflect the superiority of Palace as it could have been seven or eight. Against the club that he has both positive and negative memories, Alan Pardew was hoping his current squad would make a statement and it was evident that early on they were in the mood. Papiss Cisse’s strike in the 10th minute was against the run of play and was the moment that really kicked the Eagles into gear. They responded subsequently after with goals in the 14th and 17th minute through the impressive James McArthur and dynamic Yannick Bolasie. From there, the result was never in doubt and the exhilarating Wilfred Zaha scored the third before Bolasie and McArthur scored again to add gloss to the scoreline.
