Oblak cementing himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe

While playing with 10 men for much of the second half, there was a sense that Atléti would be able to escape with a point and that was all down to the outstanding performance of Oblak. Week in, week out, Oblak continues to pull out a string of saves. In the last few weeks, his saves have secured points for Atléti with only a deflection beating him on this occasion.

Since returning to the starting XI late last season, Oblak has excelled and provided consistent performances in goals. Such is the impact the young Slovenian has made, the equally impressive Miguel Ángel Moyà has been limited to Copa del Rey appearances. His rich vein of form this season has also seen Oblak lead the charts for clean sheets with nine, two more than Keylor Navas in second place. These consistent performances are transforming Oblak into one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.
