Atléti need another reliable goalscorer
Griezmann has been in goalscoring form lately but was unable to continue his form in this fixture. Of course the dismissal of Gabi did make things harder for Atléti, however the first half performance was a poor one for a team sitting second, with only Carrasco’s chance proving noteworthy.
Atléti cannot afford to rely on Griezmann to bail them out. Vietto and Jackson Martínez were bought in the summer to help contribute goals for Atléti, however both have been inconsistent and not prolific enough. Torres has had a woeful time after starting the season in decent form. Simeone will be worried that come the midpoint of the season, his strikers are still underperforming. With Martínez returning from injury, Simeone needs his expensive summer signing to live up to the high expectations and deliver reliability in front of goal.
