Melbourne City were impressive 3-1 winners over Wellington Phoenix at AAMI Park in round 15 action of the A-League .
Melbourne City were lively from the outset and it didn’t take them long to add to their already impressive tally of 37 goals for the season. Bruno Fornaroli opened the scoring in the 11th minute; his 13th goal of the season.
In a bright and open match, City continued to threaten the Phoenix’s goal and doubled their advantage in the 30th minute through Harry Novillo. The Frenchman latched onto the end of a Michael Zullo cross, slotting it past Glen Moss.
After the break, the Melbourne team made it three with a beautifully worked move from left to right along the edge of the box. New signing Anthony Caceres and marquee man Aaron Mooy played their part in the lead up with Novillo’s curling shot finishing it off.
Wellington were able to get one on the board with Roly Bonevacia hitting yet another incredible strike which fell perfectly into the top right-hand corner beyond Thomas Sorensen’s reach.

This officiating is disgraceful at the minute. Bonevacia getting hacked every time he has the ball #MCYvWEL

God, we're awful. The good bits of last season seems a million years ago. This is dreadful #COYN #MCYvWEL

Fornaroli and Novillo don't just score a lot of goals, they score a very high percentage of crackers. #MCYvWEL

For everything beautiful about City's team goal comes beauty in the solo effort from Roly #MCYvWEL

Big win for Muscat as he avoided picking up a card but did manage to pinch Fornaroli's wallet #MCYvWEL

Sigh. Outclassed again. It's becoming business as usual now. Hopefully we'll find some way of turning it round this weekend. #COYN #MCYvWEL
