José Giménez injury blow well covered by Stefan Savić
The summer signing has been unlucky to not have as much chances to feature for his new side since his move from Fiorentina. With the Godín and Giménez partnership having been so reliable, Simeone has used Savić rarely and for less important fixtures. However, when stepping-in, the former Fiorentina defender has looked solid and dependable alongside the experienced Godín.

With the impressive Giménez out with a hamstring injury, it seems likely to see the youngster miss three or four weeks of action, which will finally give Savić the chance to showcase his talents to the Atléti faithful. If anything is to go by from his rare opportunities, they will not be sweating over the absence of their starting centre-back and instead relish having three top quality players, each eying to be a starter.
