Melbourne City coach John van’t Schip believes controversial moments which happen at games should not be replayed at live games.

It comes in light of a busy fortnight for FFA, Melbourne Victory and Western Sydney Wanderers who have addressed media and the public regarding antisocial behaviour.

Notably last week in the Melbourne derby, Melbourne Victory midfielder Gui Finkler’s free-kick cannoned off the crossbar and crossed the goal-line momentarily – the goal was not awarded.

Subsequently the replay was shown, clearly showing it was a goal, it then proceeded to show a stagnant linesman as jeers echoed around the stadium.

Naturally Victory players contested the decision and the Active Victory fans reacted angrily, hurling bottles towards City goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen.

Van’t Schip made comparisons to Europe and major tournaments, saying they don’t show footage for the reason of preserving safety for the officials and players, so they should do the same here in the A-League.

“Look I think it’s not the way it should be done, because it’s not what they do all over the world,” Van’t Schip said.

“Showing those things can affect everyone, it affects everyone in the stands, the players, the referees.

“Those are things you should show after the game, that’s my opinion.”
