As Australia head into Tuesday’s clash with Jordan, needing just one point to progress to the next stage of World Cup qualification in their group, star veteran Tim Cahill has revealed how pleased he is with the national team’s progress.

Ahead of the meeting with Harry Redknapp’s Jordan, Cahill says the team is brimming with confidence and would not be sitting back for just a point against the Jordanians.

“(Our) moods are always really good, I think we’re always excited to be in camp, it’s a big game for us, but they all are,” Cahill said.

“Regardless of who we play or how we set up, we know the points against Jordan are up for grabs, that’s what we’re after.”

In wake of defeating Tajikistan 7-0 in Adelaide, Tuesday’s fixture has been widely predicted to be a much tougher test for the Socceroos, having suffered a 2-0 defeat to Jordan in Amman earlier in qualifying.

The Hangzhou Greentown man was more than content with the state of Australia’s play and believes its complexity has come a long way.

“We’re flying the flag for our country, we’re playing good football. The boss has a great vision for the Socceroos,” he said.

“More importantly, he’s bringing in some great depth and I couldn’t be happier at the moment for the way football’s going, with the Socceroos at the moment.”

Cahill did not take field against Tajikistan on Thursday but is likely to feature against Jordan. The 36-year-old dismissed any worries of soreness saying he feels in fantastic shape.
