Watford backline holding strong
One of the key reasons Watford are taking all three points home is the strong defensive display from Prodl and Cathcart. The pair have started together in every league matches this season and with only five goals shipped from six matches, they have the making of a very strong partnership. They did an excellent job of keeping the Magpies at bay, completing four interceptions from inside the Newcastle penalty area and making as many clearances from dangerous positions. Prodl and Cathcart also contributed three blocks in the first-half.
Nothing gets past Nyom
The Cameroonian right-back has been in fine form this campaign and the match at St James’ Park was no exception. Nyom was up against Perez in the first-half, Thauvin for most of the second and Gabriel Obertan for the last few minutes and against each opponent he came out on top. In total, he completed two interceptions, eight clearances, six blocks and 71% of his tackles. An outstanding display from the 27-year-old who is one of many new arrivals at Vicarage Road this season.
