Janmaat Newcastle’s best attacking outlet
When your right-back is your most attacking player, something is not quite right. Nonetheless, Janmaat can not be faulted for his effort, unlike some of his teammates. Aside from his goal which gave the Geordies a glimmer of hope, he was an able contributor, putting in 12 crosses over the 90 minutes. In comparison, Haidara, who has on the other side of the Magpies defence only crossed four times before he was substituted late in the game. This shows that Newcastle were intent on exploiting their opposition through the right-hand side of attack and despite ending the game with defeat, it is easy to see why the Dutchman was much more effective than Haidara.
