Talking Points
Butland saves Potters
The performance from Stoke City shot stopper Butland was nothing short of outstanding and without him, Newcastle would have definitely taken the three points. He was busy all afternoon and made eight saves with the pick of them being a save made with his legs to deny Moussa Sissoko in the second half. The young English custodian also stood tall to deny a bullet header from Jamaal Lascalles late on.
Newcastle conversion rate starting to become a worry
Despite Newcastle’s last three performances showing signs of encouragement, they have only amassed four points from a possible nine. This is largely because they have not been able to convert their chances to goals. Against Sunderland last weekend they had 15 shots, 6 of which were on target and today they had 21 shots with eight on target – all for no goals. To have no return from 14 shots on target is an alarming statistic and something that needs to be rectified immediately.
