AC Milan climbed to eighth place in Serie A after securing a 1-0 win over Chievo at the San Siro.

Luca Antonelli’s goal in the second-half gave the Rossoneri back-to-back wins for just the second time this season, following a 2-1 triumph over Sassuolo on the weekend.

The Rossoneri have not lost to Chievo in nearly ten years now, inflicting a third loss in a row for the Gialloblu in the Serie A. Their dominance over Chievo showed, with the men from Milan dominating possession for most of the game, creating the most chances.

Antonelli scored the only goal of the match in the 53rd minute thanks to some excellent work from Carlos Bacca to get the ball to the former Genoa man, who struck a low, curling shot into the bottom corner of the net.

However, Milan lost Ignazio Abate through injury in just the 14th minute of the first half, forcing Sinisa Mihajlovic to make a change, bringing De Sciglio on for Abate.

The win puts them on 16 points and eighth position on the ladder, just seven points of the leaders AS Roma, who are now on 23 points after they defeated Udinese 3-1.

Gianluigi Donnarumma Repays Faith

Mihajlovic kept the faith by keeping the young 16-year-old in between the sticks rather than handing the duties back to Diego Lopez, who has struggled all season. The move paid off, with Gianluigi Donnarumma producing a number of saves that kept Chievo out of the match. At nearly two metres tall, the youngster is an imposing figure in goals and after two fine performances in a row looks set to retain his place for the foreseeable future.

First Clean Sheet

This was AC Milan’s first clean sheet of the 2015-16 Serie A season, and a deserved one thanks to the heroics of goalkeeper Donnarumma. Their last clean sheet was in the Coppa Italia, a 2-0 win against Perugia. With the defense finally coming together, and Donnarumma showing some great promise in goals, the Rossoneri will be hoping for more defensive performances like this match.
