In a matchday full of upsets, Outside90’s Joshua Scarcella breaks down the 10 biggest talking points to come out of the midweek Serie A action.

Were you watching Udinese vs Milan, Brendan Rodgers?

If Rodgers was watching the clash in Udine, he would be reflecting on why his on-loan striker Mario Balotelli could not perform at Anfield as he did during this match.

The 25-year-old turned the clock back, so to speak, and was part of a brilliant first half Milan display which had them leading 3-0 at half time. This was only to be put in reverse as Udinese snatched two goals back and looked extremely threatening to score a third.

Once again, the Rossoneri’s defence have plenty to answer for, appearing to switch off completely for the majority of the second half. The line seems to be the weak link of the team at the moment.

Pandev’s return ends in shame

The Macedonian international made his return to the Stadio Olympico against his former club Lazio after a year-long spell at Galatasaray but it was a day to forget.

Pandev made a positive start to the match for i Grifone, managing two shots in the first half that required saving from Federico Marchetti. However a brain snap in the second half saw Pandev contest a header while making contact with his elbow on Marco Parolo – the result a straight red card.

It could mean multiple games out which is not ideal for either Lazio or Pandev himself, who is just getting back into the action after spending much of the last six months at Galatasaray on the bench.
