Outside90’s Joshua Scarcella casts an eye over the five best individual performances to come from the weekend’s Serie A action.
Federico Marchetti (Carpi vs Lazio)
The veteran has arguably been Lazio’s player of the season, next to Lucas Biglia and Antonio Candreva, which is a fantastic achievement for a player the club were not so sure about at the beginning of the season.
The match against Carpi began in a worrying fashion for the home side, depsite scoring two first-half goals, Lazio also conceded two first-half penalties. Enter Marchetti. Saving both, he single-handedly lead his team into the break 2-0 and helped them to say in front throughout the match, making another six saves.

Armando Izzo (Sampdoria vs Genoa)
The 24-year-old has been a staple in Gian Piero Gasperini’s defense during the season, so much so that his name has appeared on the watchlist of other Serie A clubs.
The centre-back’s performance against Sampdoria was superb to keep the team to only three shots on target for the match, a true defensive performance that allowed his teammate Suso to shine at the opposite end of the pitch.

Radja Nainggolan (Roma vs Chievo)
Another shining performer this season has been Nainggolan for Roma, especially over their great run of form during 2016 under the tutelage of Luciano Spalletti.
Allowing Francesco Totti to take the recent spotlight, the Belgian is still a work horse in midfield. However, it was his turn to claim just rewards for his effort with a goal after just 18 minutes of play against Chievo, which threw the away side’s game plan out the window.

Diego Perotti (Roma vs Chievo)
Perotti’s career has gone from strength-to-strength since joining the Romans and although having some serious competition to contend with on an international level, he has still placed his name firmly in the mix for a call-up to La Albiceleste.
His performance against Chievo was a different one compared to past weeks, going without personal reward but getting close on three occasions. His attacking pressure was a highlight of the match and showed his versatility to continue a high tempo game, even without a goal or assist.

Suso (Sampdoria vs Genoa)
The Spaniard was by far the best performer of the matchday and is beginning to showcase his talent on a more consistent basis, which he was unable to do before being released previously by Liverpool.
Leaving the Sampdoria defenders to fall over themselves, Suso made a solo run into the box and curled his first goal past Emiliano Viviano, only then to pounce on a counter-attack and slot home his second.
