West Ham United signed off from their spiritual home Upton Park before their move to Olympic Stadium in style, following a come-from-behind 3-2 victory against Manchester United.
For large periods of the game the home side dominated proceedings, taking an early lead through a sublime finish from Diafra Sakho.
They had plenty of chances to double their advantage but were made to pay when United equalised through a Anthony Martial tap-in. The away side then registered just their second shot at goal on 72 minutes, resulting in yet another sucker punch and once again thanks to the ingenious work of Martial who dribbled his way into the box and his cross-come-shot nestled into the far corner.
And when it looked like United would spoil the party and jump into fourth place, West Ham struck back with two quick-fire goals through Michail Antonio and unlikely source Winston Reid.
Dimitri Payet’s inch-perfect free-kicks allowed both players the ability to nod home past a despairing David de Gea and send the stadium into raptures like never before.
It was an emotion filled evening for the Hammers’ faithful, who depart Upton Park in the hope that they can secure Europa League football on the final day this weekend.

West Ham should lose one Premier League point for every minute that this drags on longer than Leicester’s title celebrations.

Great game to finish at Upton park. Let’s be honest about Man Utd though. West Ham should have smashed them out the park.

Have West Ham gone out of business, I’m sure they’ll kick off the new season in August, this is so over the top it’s ridiculous ?

I backed the @ManUtd when we finished 13th EXACTLY the same as I backed #MUFC when we won the Treble!

The most fitting end to LVG’s tenure will be City losing to Swansea and United losing 1-0 at home to Bournemouth with 1 shot on target.

When your club legends are Anton Ferdinand, Marlon Harewood & Carton Cole that pretty much encapsulates how small time West Ham Utd are ….

I’m not trying to undermine De Gea, but if Hart/Cech/Courtois had done the same for West Ham’s winner, they would be mocked for a long time.
