14 – A new Klopp for the Kop

Brendan Rodgers’ stint in charge of the red half of Merseyside was never a dull one, but that often meant bad news. For Liverpool fans, that is.

The former Swansea boss became one of the most ridiculed managers world football has ever seen and the internet’s wrath very rarely spared him.

His intriguing reign in charge of Liverpool came to an end in early October – interestingly, after a draw – against Merseyside rivals Everton.

Almost instantly, the rumours and calls for the then-unemployed Jurgen Klopp to be hired came, and eventually, they were heeded. Several bad puns and jokes later, the former Dortmund boss finds his team in eighth on 27 points, but the results have not always been good.

Liverpool thrashed Manchester City 4-1 in an utterly dominant display at the Etihad but suffered poor losses against Newcastle United and Watford respectively.

Regardless, only brave men and women would bet against the German entertainer making a sustained impact in the long-term at Anfield.
