Bournemouth: a ship that leaks

Howe’s side has only kept one clean sheet all season, which even then came against a last place Sunderland side. A team often praised for their enthusiasm in possession and going forward, the Cherries have looked frail at the back.

While they have dealt with injuries to first teamers Tommy Elphick and Charlie Daniels, Bournemouth’s ability to hold out against Premier League clubs could prove to be their downfall over the course of the season.

The issue at the back is an extremely indirect one. Their back four usually has good individual performances, but do not combine in a way that is effective enough in the Premier League landscape.

With games against Watford, Man City and Tottenham coming up over the course of October, defensive surety may still be a long way off for the Cherries.
